SparkMarker Team privacy policy
Effective date: October 4, 2026
SparkMarker Team is a browser extension for commenting on web pages together with a team. This policy explains what information it handles, where it is kept and who can see it. It applies to SparkMarker Team only; SparkMarker, the local edition, stores everything in the browser and has its own policy.
What we store
When you use SparkMarker Team, the following is sent to and stored on the SparkMarker Team server, operated by Sparksoft Corporation:
- Your account. Your display name and email address, and your password in the form of a salted hash. The password itself is never stored.
- Your team. The team's name, its members, and its invite code.
- Your comments. The text of your comments and replies, whether a comment is resolved, who wrote it and when.
- Where each comment belongs. The address of the page a comment was placed on, a short description of the element (its type, its position in the page and a short excerpt of its text), a screenshot of that element, and the browser, operating system and window size the comment was written in.
- Feedback you choose to send through the feedback form.
While SparkMarker Team is switched on, the address of the page you are viewing is sent to the server so that your team's comments on that page can be shown. It is used for that lookup and is not kept as a browsing history.
The extension itself keeps on your device whether it is switched on, your preferences, and a sign-in token.
Who can see it
- The members of your team see the comments, replies and screenshots of your team, and the names and email addresses of its members.
- Other teams cannot see your team's data.
- Sparksoft staff who operate the service can access the data when needed to run and support it.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties, other than the hosting provider that runs the service on our behalf (Amazon Web Services, in the United States).
How long it is kept
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. A team admin can remove a member; that member can then no longer sign in, and the comments they wrote remain visible to the team under their name. To have your account or your team's data deleted, contact us at the address below.
Security
Connections to the server are encrypted. The database is not reachable from the internet and is encrypted at rest. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
What SparkMarker Team does not do
- It does nothing on a page until you have switched it on.
- It does not use analytics, advertising or tracking.
- It does not read or send the content of pages, apart from the element description and screenshot attached to a comment you place.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
